Fully Automatic Potato Starch Production Machine

Potato Starch Production Machine

Fully Automatic Potato Starch Production Line with a finished product capacity of 500 Kg/Hour is a high-end industrial installation designed for primary starch extraction. Unlike starch recovery systems, this plant converts fresh potatoes into high-purity starch powder through a fully automated wet milling process. To produce 500 Kg of finished starch per hour, approximately 3 to 4 Tons of raw potatoes per hour are required depending on the starch content of the potatoes.

Process Flow & Machine Details

Cleaning & Washing

The production process begins with a Dry Sieve or De-stoner to remove sand, stones, and heavy impurities, followed by a Rotary Drum Washer and Brush Cleaner that thoroughly clean potatoes before crushing.

High-Speed Rasper

The rasper operates at over 2000 RPM to break potato cells and release starch granules efficiently, achieving starch dissociation rates of up to 98%.

Centrifugal Extraction

A multi-stage centrifugal sieve separates starch milk from potato pulp and fiber while maximizing starch recovery efficiency.

Desander System

Cyclone desanders remove fine sand particles and abrasive impurities from the starch milk before the refining stage.

Hydro Cyclone Refining

A 12–18 stage hydro cyclone station washes starch milk with fresh water to remove proteins, fats, and cell sap, producing high-purity white starch.

Vacuum Dewatering

Vacuum filters or peeler centrifuges reduce moisture from approximately 60% to 38–40%, producing a starch cake ready for drying.

Flash Dryer

Hot air rapidly dries the starch cake inside a vertical airflow drying system, producing fine starch powder with a final moisture content of 13–18%.

Sifting & Packaging

The dried starch passes through a vibrating sieve before being packed automatically into 25 Kg or 50 Kg bags for storage and transportation.

Utility & Infrastructure Requirements

Water Quality

Soft water with low calcium and magnesium content is essential for starch extraction to maintain product whiteness and prevent discoloration.

Waste Management

The plant produces potato pulp and cell liquid. Potato pulp is commonly utilized as valuable animal feed, while wastewater should be treated using an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).

Industrial Boiler

A Gas, Diesel, or Wood-fired boiler supplies steam for the Flash Dryer, ensuring continuous and energy-efficient drying performance.
